It is essential that everyone in our area is able to access a high standard of healthcare, and I have consistently spoken out against the Labour Government’s delay of the new Watford General Hospital and the recent closure of the Urgent Care Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital.

I was proud to secure £400 million of funding for a New Watford General Hospital under the last Conservative Government, so the decision of the new Labour Government to postpone the shovel-ready project to build a new Hospital at Watford General until 2032, alongside the decision to close the Urgent Care Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital, was very disappointing.

Both closures are ones that I have strongly opposed, speaking out in the House of Commons, attending residents meetings, and holding Ministers accountable for the impact of these decisions, as part of my long-standing top priority to protect healthcare in our area.

I am continuing to stand against the Labour Government’s efforts to make healthcare worse in our area, and I will not stop pushing for this.
