From weeks-long delays to excessive admin, the current Access to Work system is failing charities like @missionemployable who deliver a 90% success rate of placing interns into paid work.
That’s why it was great to meet the Minister for Social Security and Disability alongside Katharine Weston, Chair of Mission EmployAble, to raise concerns about Access to Work and the barriers facing supported internship schemes.
We also raised the impact of recent National Insurance changes on small charities, and the need for better flexibility in securing education partners. I’ll continue working with Mission EmployAble to ensure these programmes get the support they need.
