I recently met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Housing, Angela Rayner, to discuss The Court in Chorleywood - which you may recall I raised with the Deputy Prime Minister in Housing Questions in the House of Commons back in March.
I was shocked when The Court burned down in suspicious circumstances back in February, so it was a relief to hear the Deputy Prime Minister be clear that subject to the outcome of the live investigation there are a wide range of enforcement powers that the government have given local planning authorities to use, including specific powers in relation to listed buildings. That’s exactly what residents want, to see this historic and much-loved local site restored and protected.
I’ll continue working with our excellent local councillors and our community here in South West Herts to make sure that commitment turns into action.
