Yesterday, I was pleased to formally present the Non-Domestic Rating (Retail, Hospitality and Leisure) Bill in the House of Commons, the first Bill I have presented since being elected to Parliament.
Business rates remain one of the biggest concerns raised with me by shops, pubs, restaurants and hospitality businesses across South West Hertfordshire.
The Bill is designed to support retail, hospitality and leisure businesses by making changes to business rates. Presenting the Bill marks the first stage in the parliamentary process, and I look forward to returning to the House for its Second Reading on 16 October 2026.
