70% of my constituents have told me they believe their local Underground stations would benefit from step-free disabled access. Yet despite this demand, Transport for London has decided not to include Rickmansworth or Moor Park in its plans.
Right now, only one in four of our local stations have step-free access. Accessible transport and infrastructure has always been one of my top priorities, benefitting elderly residents, parents with buggies, and especially disabled passengers. Excluding key stations in South West Hertfordshire sends the wrong message.
I will be pushing for a meeting with TfL and the Mayor of London to make this case directly, because transport should be accessible for everyone.
