Gagan Mohindra was pleased to hold a meeting with local councillors, the Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, David Lloyd, and his Deputy, Lewis Cocking, to raise residents concerns on local crime in the South West Hertfordshire constituency.

During the meeting, Gagan raised the following:

- A rise in attempted burglaries in Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Berkhamsted

- Rural crime issues such as fly-tipping

- CCTV networks across the constituency and the ease of getting them installed

The Police and Crime Commissioner noted Gagan's concerns and confirmed that the Hertfordshire Constabulary are working hard to address the points Gagan raised. During the meeting, Gagan was pleased to note the following remarks by both David Lloyd and Lewis Cocking:

✅ Burglaries in Three Rivers has halved over the last 3 years
✅ 400 new police officers specifically for Three Rivers areas
✅ Overall, there are 20,000 extra officers in Hertfordshire
✅ Whilst concerns have been raised over police visibility, the Police and Crime Commissioner stressed a number of units are undercover and not obvious to the public

After the meeting, Gagan commented: "This is a good start to what will no doubt be a long conversation between myself, our local councillors and those at Hertfordshire Police. I am incredibly grateful for the work our local police forces do in keeping us sage, but I recognise there is more we can do to get crime even lower despite Hertfordshire statistically being one of the safest areas in the country. I am please that during the meeting, David stressed the importance of focusing on the 'preventative' method of tackling low-level crime and making sure residents feel safe wherever they are at home or walking in public."

Community Spaces

Tuesday, 15 July, 2025
🏡 I raised with the Housing Minister today that any new housing developments must come with proper community spaces.

Although it was good to hear the Minister was optimistic, I’ll be keeping a close eye on this to make sure new homes come with the facilities and spaces local people need.
