Delivering my Maiden Speech
It was an honour to deliver my maiden speech on Tuesday 17th March 2020, in the House of Commons.
A Maiden Speech is the first speech by a 'newly elected' member of the legislature. (Due to events outside my control it took a few months for me to get my opportunity).
The convention is that the subject remain uncontroversial and not related to current topics - no matter their seriousness.
I tried to strike the right tone- thanking my predecessor, celebrating my constituency and highlighting my politics.
